Maarja Merivoo-Parro visited Stanford University through the Short-Term Research Fellowship at Stanford University for Estonian Scholars in the spring of 2026. The fellowship is supported by The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Estonia, Vabamu and Stanford Libraries.

The new executive director will start work in August 2026.

With funding from Culture Moves Europe, NoVa Product Manager Ede Schank Tamkivi, NoVa Programme Manager Maja Soomägi, and a former Fulbright Specialist at Vabamu, Lisa Trei, visited Sweden in April to present the Free Winds exhibition.

From 21 January 2026 until January 2028, Vabamu will host a new temporary exhibition, Estonia Worldwide. The exhibition is curated by Martin Vaino, Ede Schank Tamkivi, and Terje Toomistu.
