How to reach us
By Car
Parking in the museum’s lot is free for visitors for up to two hours, subject to availability. To waive the parking fee, register your parking at the ticket counter. The parking lot is accessible from Toompea Street. As parking spaces next to the museum are limited, we recommend visiting us on foot whenever possible.
A designated accessible parking space is located in the museum’s lot on Toompea Street and is clearly marked.
The nearest parking facilities are the Vabaduse Square parking garage and Kaarli parking lot. Buses can park along Falgi Road, approximately 250 meters from the museum.
All Vabamu visitors receive a 30% discount at the Snabb X1 parking lot at Kaarli pst 2. The discounted rate is €2.66/hour and €14/24 hours.
To activate the discount, start parking in the X1 Kaarli zone using the Snabb app. Then, scan the QR code available at the Vabamu ticket counter or ask a museum guide for more details. The discount can be applied both before starting a parking session and during an active one.
By Public Transport
The nearest bus stops to the museum are Vabaduse väljak and Tõnismägi. From there, it’s just a short 5-minute walk to Vabamu.
By Bicycle
A bike rack is available in the museum’s parking lot. We recommend leaving rental e-scooters at the designated scooter parking area on Kaarli Boulevard.
Accessibility
Wheelchair
A visitor in a wheelchair can move about the museum with the help of an accompanying person. There is a wheelchair lift installed in the museum that can be used only with a narrower wheelchair due to the structure of the building. The museum has a narrow-framed wheelchair and, if necessary, the museum visitor experience guides can assist in changing wheelchairs.
KGB Prison Cells
Attention! The KGB Prison Cells are temporarily closed in April for the renewal of the permanent exhibition. We will reopen on May 9.
By Car
Parking in the Old Town is paid. The nearest free parking is in Kalamaja, approximately 15 minutes from the museum. Therefore, it is a good idea to visit the KGB Prison Cells by foot.
By Bicycle
There is no bike rack directly in front of the museum. The nearest bike rack is located at Pikk Street 29a.
By Public Transport
The closest public transport stops are Balti Jaam bus stops and the Suur Rannavärav tram stop (trams 1 and 2).
Visitors with Strollers
The prison cells are located in the basement and accessible only by stairs, which may make it difficult to navigate with a stroller.
Visitors with Wheelchairs
Unfortunately, the KGB Prison Cells Museum is not wheelchair accessible due to a steep staircase at the entrance and limited maneuvering space inside.
