Introduction

Together, we traverse the topics connected to Estonia’s history starting from 1939 and reaching the present day. During the tour, you will be acquainted with the most outstanding museum exhibits and the life stories of interesting people. What kind of choices did Estonians have during the Soviet and German occupations? What happened to those who decided to stay, and to those who escaped? How free can one be in an occupied society? What does freedom mean in a democratic society? To answer those questions, we will look at the life stories of Estonians throughout recent history.
