My time at the e-Governance Academy (eGA) in Estonia has been incredibly insightful. As a dual US-EU citizen and current Stanford Law student, I’m curious about how the two sides of the Atlantic diverge in their approaches to new technology, from regulatory frameworks to the integration of tech into effective governance. eGA gave me the chance to dig into these questions firsthand through comparing US and EU AI governance policies and assessing the regulatory regimes of eGA’s partner countries. Speaking with leading Estonians across different sectors deepened my understanding of the country’s unique approach to innovation, and trips to Riga, Tallinn, and Vilnius gave me a fuller picture of the region. Thank you to Kadri and the whole Vabamu team for organizing these trips, I can’t wait to come back to the Baltics soon!
