Merilin works at the Ministry of Culture as the Deputy Chancellor of Cultural Values. She has studied sociology and political science at the University of Essex in the United Kingdom, and while obtaining a master’s degree at the Department of Ethnology at the University of Tartu, she was exposed to both memory research and the analysis of contemporary cultural processes. In 2015-2018 she led the development of our museum, during which she opened the KGB prison cells, the new permanent exhibition “Freedom Without Borders” and an international traveling exhibition. Furthermore, she has previously led several civic associations and founded the Center for Applied Anthropology, which deals with applied cultural studies.
