The year 1989 marked a historic turning point in European history: the victory of freedom, democracy and social courage over totalitarian regimes.
The photo exhibition “Born in 1989 – Stories of Freedom by Young Europeans” is part of a project created in cooperation between six European countries – Estonia, Poland, Romania, Germany, Slovakia and Hungary – with the aim of raising young people’s understanding of the transition of European communist states to democracies and of jointly appreciating the European value space, the foundations of which are democracy, freedom, human rights and solidarity. We invite young people to look at the year 1989 not only in the context of historical events, but also with the desire to encourage them to perceive the importance of social activism and a sense of shared responsibility in the modern world.
