On the 3. of April at 18.00 we await everyone to a lecture by Ville Jalovaara on the bombing of Tallinn and Helsinki in World War II. The lecture is followed by discussion.
The Soviet Long Range Air Force made four major attacks on Helsinki and Tallinn in February and March. Ville Jalovaara, associate professor at the University of Helsinki, has studied the subject in his book Helsinki 1944, published in the fall 2023. In his lecture, Ville Jalovaara talks about the bombings 80 years ago and the air defense arrangements of Helsinki and Tallinn. There is new information on his research about the participation of night fighters in the defense of Tallinn on March 9, 1944. The lecture is in English.
