On June 8 at 6:30 PM, a special film screening of the documentary “Forest Brothers: Resistance Against the USSR” (original title: Frères de la forêt, des résistants face à l’URSS), directed by Antoine de Meaux, will take place.
The film explores the Baltic Forest Brothers’ resistance movement between 1944 and 1953, highlighting the clandestine struggle of Estonian, Latvian, and Lithuanian partisans against Soviet occupation. Based on archival footage and personal testimonies, it offers a powerful historical narrative that sheds light on this complex period.
At its core, the documentary reflects on memory and Baltic identity, while drawing thought-provoking parallels between past events and contemporary conflicts. The film was produced by Program 33 and broadcast in France as part of France Télévisions’ history documentary series La case du siècle.
The screening will be attended by director Antoine de Meaux, followed by a discussion after the film.
The event is free of charge, but prior registration is required.
The event is organized in collaboration with the French Institute.
