Purpose
The student knows the principles of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, knows how to name the rights of the child and knows the balance between rights and responsibilities.
Introduction
We all have rights, but we often tend to forget that rights also come with responsibilities. Which basic human rights are included in the Convention on the Rights of the Child? In the museum lesson, we reflect on the topic of equality, freedom and human dignity both in history and in modern Estonia with the help of real-life stories. To enliven the discussion, we try to step into the shoes of real people, whether it is Hans who grew up in Siberia or Urve, who fled to Sweden. At the end of the lesson, the class will prepare a declaration of rights and responsibilities, so that in the future it will be remembered: rights and freedoms can only be preserved if we fulfil our responsibilities.
