18.00–19.00

One Saturday evening in May each year, museums and other memory institutions open their doors later than usual to celebrate the pan-European Museum Night. The Estonian Museum Association has been organising Museum Nights since 2009. It was also the first time that the Museum Night was held all over Estonia. This year night is entitled “There is freedom at night”. We invite those interested to reflect on the topic of freedom through events in recent history.

Vabamu
In addition to Vabamu’s permanent exhibition “Freedom without borders”, it is also possible to get acquainted with the permanent exhibition’s new audio journey “From “such people” to LGBT activism”, which explains the stories of sexual and gender minorities in 20th-century Estonia

What does freedom mean to you? Come and share your thoughts with us by drawing or writing! On the occasion of Museum Night, we have opened an activity corner in our Freedom Hall, where everyone has the opportunity to freely read, play, listen, draw, craft, reflect.

KGB Prison Cells
In the KGB Prison Cells you can see both a permanent exhibition “History of the KGB House” and a temporary exhibition “Faces of Russian Resistance”.

Museums are open 18.00–23.00. The last entrance to Vabamu is at 22.30.

Entrance 1€ (children up to 8 years old are free of charge). Admission is free with a museum card.
