From 16.03.2024 to 31.03.2024, the exhibition of Nikita Titov’s art “Words That Became Meaningful” is open in Vabamu. The organizers of the exhibition are the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Estonia and the Association of Ukrainian Organizations in Estonia.

A war has been going on in Ukraine for ten years, which was started by the Russian Federation in 2014 by occupying part of its territory. Presently, lives are lost daily in Ukraine, blood is shed regularly, and Ukrainians are steadfastly defending their freedom and independence. Words such as DIGNITY, FAITH and RESPECT have a deep meaning for Ukrainians, because they embody the suffering, resilience and sacrifice of countless people. Every word for them was filled with meaning: pain, tragedy, great losses, heroism. Now these words are not just a set of letters and sounds, now they are filled with the life and struggle of many people who defend Ukraine!

This exhibition serves as a tribute to the impactful works of Nikita Titov, a distinguished Ukrainian artist with Estonian heritage. He was born in 1973 in the Estonian town of Jõhvi, where he attended school. His mother is Estonian, and his father is Ukrainian. Later, his parents moved to Ukraine, where he finished school and graduated from Kharkiv Pedagogical University with a degree in teaching drawing. Following his academic pursuits, he engaged in painting and worked in advertising for several years. Titov’s artistic journey began during the Revolution of Dignity in Kyiv in 2013, since then, his creations have chronicled the events of the ongoing Russian-Ukrainian war.

Nikita Titov’s poster “Frontline”, depicting a military figure alongside a medic, served as the foundation for a postage stamp introduced on June 1, 2020. Subsequently, on October 12, 2020, the National Bank of Ukraine issued a commemorative coin, “Frontline,” with a denomination of 5 hryvnias, earning international recognition and winning international awards. The images from Titov’s namesake poster were used in its creation. Nikita Titov has been awarded state honors for his volunteerism and support of the armed forces.
