\n New Baltic internship opportunities available through Stanford’s Global Studies Internship Program <\/div>\n

In the summer of 2023, Stanford students can choose between eight different internship opportunities in Estonia and Latvia, offered by the\u00a0Global Studies Internship Program<\/a>. The Baltic portion of the Global Studies Internship Program is hosted by SGS and co-sponsored by Stanford Libraries and Vabamu.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/div>\n

2023 internship opportunities in Estonia and Latvia<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The Global Studies Internship Program\u00a0offers placements at the\u00a0Johan Skytte Institute of Political Studies<\/a>\u00a0(University of Tartu, Estonia),\u00a0Tallinn Science Park Tehnopol<\/a>\u00a0(Tallinn University of Technology, Estonia),\u00a0HackMotion<\/a>\u00a0(Latvia),\u00a0TechHub Riga<\/a>\u00a0(Latvia) and\u00a0Vabamu Museum of Occupations and Freedom<\/a>\u00a0(Estonia). Each of these organizations has experience in hosting Stanford interns and is looking forward to working with the students again.\u00a0This year, the program also launched three new internship opportunities at the\u00a0NATO Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence<\/a>\u00a0(CCDCOE) in Estonia,\u00a0 Riga Stradi\u0146\u0161 University’s\u00a0China Studies Centre<\/a>\u00a0in Latvia, and\u00a0The Baltic Security Foundation<\/a>\u00a0in Latvia. At CCDCOE, the students will get an opportunity to work for an international and multidisciplinary cyber defense hub\u2019s strategy and law departments by analyzing future cyber operations, doing research on the overall strategic and geopolitical implications of operations, and protecting Ukrainian critical information infrastructure. At Riga Stradi\u0146\u0161 University, the students will take part in International Relations academic work with a focus on East Asia’s regional dynamic. They will have an opportunity to engage with the Latvian foreign policy makers, think tank community, academics, and practitioners. The Baltic Security Foundation\u00a0offers research opportunities related to Chinese presence in the Baltic region, Baltic energy security, lessons learned from the War in Ukraine, and European and transatlantic security issues.<\/span><\/p>\n

When chosen for an internship in the Baltics, students can participate in a program of events and activities organized by Vabamu. For example, in the summer of 2022, the interns visited the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in both Estonia and Latvia; met with the U.S. Ambassador to Latvia; took part in an Estonian cuisine workshop; had guided tours of three cities; visited a beautiful island off the coast of Tallinn and so much more.<\/span><\/p>\n
